About

My father gave me the computer bug at the ripe old age of 4. He brought home a Timex 1000 and taught me a few lines of BASIC that would print my name in a loop down the screen. I was hooked, finally something that would do exactly what I told it, instead of telling me LOL. We upgraded to new systems when finances would allow. I took 4H programming classes, subscribed to every PC magazine I could, begged for an Atari for Christmas, and never looked back.

When dad had to work nights and weekends at the phone company I sometimes tagged along and he would show me how the old school voice switching networks functioned, let me play on whatever state of the art computer system they had in the office, and eventually showed me a modem. Now we’re talking; literally. I got on my first BBS as a kid and figured out that I could leave posts for the sysop and they would happily answer my questions. It was awesome, I eventually became a sysop myself.

At the age of 16 I started my own home consulting business. I put up signs in the local grocery stores and gas stations offering to help people with their systems and I’ve been doing it ever since. I’ve racked up a pretty impressive skill set over the years and held nearly every job in the IT industry; Cable runner, Repair Tech, System Builder, Consultant, Web Designer, Developer, and Network Engineer. Currently, I’m a Senior Engineer for a Consulting Company in company in the Kansas City area.
